Welcome to Portola Valley Wiki
The wiki about Portola Valley, California that anyone can edit

6 articles since January, 2008

The Portola Valley Wiki is all about Portola Valley, California, USA.

This wiki is intended to be a resource where residents, visitors and anyone interested in Portola Valley can share information about our community and environs.

A primary goal is to provide a resource for learning and sharing about our natural environment. What is the name of that yellow bird I saw yesterday? What is the little plant with heart-shaped leaves and white berries? Just exactly what does a Checkerspot butterfly look like? Are these woody shrubs with red leaves native or exotic? Does the San Andreas fault really run through town?

A second aim is to provide historical information about Portola Valley. Why is it named Portola? When was it first settled? Why did the first settlers choose this place? How long has Zots been there? Why isn't the Little Red School House red?

But there are many other aims too - aims that other members of the community might have. That is why a wiki is so appropriate. Anyone, including you, can contribute to and shape the content of this wiki. Please add your knowledge and lore. And your photos and recordings of bird songs too. Together we can make a living encyclopedia of Portola Valley, a dynamic and changing repository of our collective knowledge and experience.
